General Questions

What’s the difference between LED, LCD or DLP?

DLP, LCD and LED are three main technologies used for projection. DLP (Digital Light Processing) uses a chip made of tiny microscopic mirrors and a spinning colour wheel to create an image. DLP projectors deliver sharp images, don't need any filters, have a better response time as well as 3D capabilities. The effective lamp life of a DLP projector is only 2,000-5,000 hours. 


On the other hand, LCD projectors use liquid crystal displays, have no moving parts and thus are generally less expensive. If you are on a budget a single chip LCD projector is ideal. Most LCD projectors come with long-lasting lamp and the lifespan can reach 50,000 hours, that’s much longer and cost-effective than DLP projector. 


LED projectors are smaller and generate less heat. Do keep in mind that LED projectors have limited brightness compared to LCD or DLP so they are not recommended if your room has a lot of ambient light.

How much brightness do I need for a home projector?

When buying a video projector for your home entertainment, it’s preferable to consider how much brightness that you actually need for your living room or home theater. In daytime conditions, higher lumens are strongly recommended because too bright a room can heavily impact the image quality and wash out everything you see on the screen. For rooms with dim light, there is not much restriction on the brightness, 1,000 to 2,000 lumens can meet your satisfaction for bright and clear images.

What is throw ratio? Are screen size and throw distance important?

Projectors have the main specification which is called a “throw ratio”. Throw ratio is basically the specification which is determined by the first two pieces of the information in an equation.

Does resolution matter? What resolution do I need for my home theater?

Generally speaking, the higher the resolution, the better the image quality, and the more the projector will cost. Higher resolutions can display more detail in the picture, and can reduce or eliminate the visibility of the pixel structure. Both of these are highly desirable in good home theater. The native 1080p resolution projectors are most recommended for home theater, as they are affordable to most projector users.

How can I use keystone correction function to get ideal images?

Most projectors come with manual keystone correction or digital keystone correction. If you have a projector that only has manual correction, you need to adjust the lens manually because the correction is not that smart. Comparing to manual keystone correction, digital correction is flexible and much easier. Some projectors have a selected algorithm to make the image square automatically if the projector is at an angle. This can save you a lot of time when setting up a projector.

How to reduce the noise of my projector while keeping it from getting overheated?

Projectors make more noise than TV. This is due to the ventilation that cools the device. To reduce the noise, a cool place is needed. Don’t put your projector in the sun and keep it away from any object that will impact optimal ventilation. By doing this, the cooling system makes less noise and the projector will not be overheated. The less noise from the video projector, the more you can enjoy the sound of your movie.

What are the advantages of a full HD video projector?

Video projector has a major advantage over TV: the feeling of truly experiencing the film or being only a few meters from the actors or a football match, for example. In this way you can transform your living room into a movie theater to enjoy with your families or friends! You can also enjoy your life-size video games.

What to do when the brightness of the projector lamp is too low?

The reasons for the low-light symptom can be 

1) The projector lamp reaches the end of its life; 

 2) The brightness setting of the lamp is too low 

 3) The power supply of the lamp is defective 


Check what is in the video projector menu 

Check the lamp usage counter: The lamp usage counter is close to 2000 hours? This confirms that your lamp needs to be replaced. 

Controlling the brightness level: The brightness can be adjusted on your video projector.

Is this a LCD projector or DLP projector?

V630 is a Full HD projector that adopts LCD technology.

How bright is this projector? Is it brighter than V620? What’s the difference?

V630 is a full HD projector featuring 5,000 lux which is suitable for home entertainment. Both V630 and V620 can provide sufficient brightness for watching movies, playing games and presentation.

Does it have digital keystone adjustment?

Yes, V630 comes with a vertical keystone correction ability of +/- 45 degrees, making it simple to project ideally aligned images from a variety of locations. You can access this function by using the remote control.

Is there a cooling system coming with it? How can I get rid of the overheated problem?

The projector is equipped with a well designed inbuilt fans to remove all the heat from the projector and it will not bother you by getting overheated. If you are facing a drastically overheating problem with Vankyo projector then you can try these simple steps.:

Can I connect my iPhone to this projector? Do I need to use a cable or is it wireless?

Mirroring your smartphone screen to the projection screen is simple and easy. A genuine lightning to HDMI adapter is all you need, and there’s no limit on the amount of fun that you share.

What’s the lifespan of the bulb? And the replacement?

The long-life LED lamp lasts up to 50,000 hours in economy mode, that’s more than 30,000 movies. So just keep your projector in good maintenance and you need not worry too much.

How do I connect an iPhone?

You need Apple Lightning to HDMI adapter or AirPlay via an AppleTV or AndroidTV (with AirScreen installed).

What actually comes with this? Travel bag? HDMI? AV cords? Remote? Leveling foot? Lens cover? Lens cloth? Removable vent filter? Speaker ohms?

How long should it be on for in a day (max), is it good for movies and gaming?

If you use it for movies and gaming, it works fine. It's got a 50,000 hour bulb so play away. The bulb is not replaceable so keep that in mind. I’m looking at outdoor screens to go with this projector.

Would you recommend 120” diagonal or 144” diagonal?

Material from the manufacturer indicates that 120" is the optimal screen size for this projector. It can totally do 144" and it looks great.

Is this projector (performance v600 native 1080p LED projector) design for outdoor use?

This projector can be used for outdoor activities, business presentations and home theater, etc. But for outdoor use, please make sure you have external power supply.

What is the maximum distance for this projector?

I have a 120" screen. Assuming width is from left side to right side, so to produce a picture 120", the projector has to be 12.4 feet from the screen.

Does it have settings in menu to adjust what size of screen you have?

There is a size adjustment in the menu to reduce the screen size.

Does it have automatic keystone adjustment like the abox a6?

The keystone could be adjusted manually within 15 degree. Bout it and also bout the Vankyo universal wall mount. The wall mount does line up with the screw holes.

By using a piece of paper to make a template, then transfer the hole positions.

Can I connect this to my Acer laptop that has HDMI, will it connect the video and audio without a problem?

Yes, the projector will accept video and audio over HDMI. It has a speaker in it and the projector will also pass through audio to its audio out jack.

Will this work with Chromecast?

Yes.

Is there a way of sending video output from the projector to an external screen using the hdmi ports?

No, the projector is a screen device it does not generate images on its own. You must connect something else to it.

My Keystone adjuster seems physically uneven,... does your manual Keystone adjuster move the same amount in each direction?

This is normal. When using on a stand or on a floor, you need more of a keystone adjustment than if you mount the projector on your average ceiling. One thing to keep in mind though, the more keystone adjustment you use, the more likely you are to have blurred edges on your picture.

How does this compare to the Leisure 510? Is the quality better? And how long is it rated to last over the 15 years of the 510?

50,000 hours lamp life and the v600 is native 1080 worth the value in the long run.

Does it support Bluetooth?

No there is no Bluetooth support, no network connection on this projector.

What kind of cord do I need to hook up external speakers?

You can just hook up the external speakers to "Audio Out" port of the projector. The port type is 3.5mm.

Is there a way to control Vankyo volume using any universal remote?

You can use the Vankyo projector remote volume control or the source volume control to adjust the volume.

Can this hook up to an Android device?

No. You need a chromecast or firetv (or any other cast device) to use it with the HDMI ports in the projector to connect it to your android device. I used both devices and work perfectly.

Can the projector be mounted?

Yes, this projector can be a ceiling or wall projector with 4 installation holes at the bottom of it.

How do i connect dell xps 13-9365 computer to vankyo performance projector?

You can connect your PC through the HDMI connections.

Can you SmartCast to this device?

No, this projector does not have SmartCast built in.

How does this perform outside in the shade during the day?

We recommend you to use this projector in the house. The picture quality is good when it is dark and when there is a little light.

Is the bulb replaceable and if not would I have to buy a whole new projector once it goes out?

Not replaceable but should last for 50000 hours. That's years as it 3 hours a day.

What is the refresh rate? e.g. 30 or 60 Hz

This projector's refresh rate is 60Hz.

Do you need a screen or will this show up on a sheet?

It will show up as long as it’s a flat surface with good reflective surface (white or light color)

Does the projector have keystone (Digital picture adjustment) or lense shift (Optical adjustment) even though in the description it says keystone?

Yes, V600 comes with manual keystone adjustment within 15 degree and focus function.

What is the farthest I can have a projector from the screen and maintain a good resolution?

The distance is between 5.5FT to 30.2FT. The distance should be adjusted to suit for different application. To have the best image performance, the recommended distance is 80.5FT.

Can this projector be mounted from the ceiling?

Yes, the projector can be mounted from the ceiling. There are screws holes to attach to a mount and it is easy to change the picture orientation.

Can pictures from an iPhone be displayed on a canvas or drawing papers of a range of sizes?

Yes of course, and you need the right cable to connect your iPhone to the projector.

Does this projector have a stereo sound?

It has one speaker in the back and the sound could be heard clearly all around the room.

Can this projecter be hooked up with speakers?

Yes, you can hook up this projector and an audio device.

From where do those items get shipped? is it inside or outside Europe, this is so i know what tax i need to pay if i order.

It depends on what country you are having it shipped to. That country will apply the tax. Also, you could request the company that will be shipping the product to you for the exact taxes being applied.

Is this better than the epson vs250? I'm looking for HD movie watching.

We have not seen the Epson model in use. The Vanko works well projecting 1080p from BluRay and Netflix/Hulu streaming from a Roku.

I see it has keystone for up and down but does it adjust side to side. This way if you put projector at a angle it will stay square?

The keystone is for up and down adjustment only.

Does it have audio out ?

Yes, There’s an 3.5mm Audio output jack.

Can you connect a streaming box to this?

Yes it has HDMI inputs.

Can the projector read subtitle files?

If the file is text format, the projector can read it directly through USB.

How do I connect to Android?

To connect with Android devices, you just need an extra Micro USB/Type C to HDMI adapter.

Can you hook up to external speakers ?

Yes. It has a 3.5mm audio out jack and it works great.

Can I use this projector with my cable tv box?

If your Cable Box has an HDMI output, you can connect it with the projector.

What is the Video Format of the performance V600?

This projector can support AVI/MP4/MKV/FLV/MOV/RMVB/3GP/MPEG1/MPEG2/H.264/XVID, etc.

Does it support voltage of 200-240?

Yes, this projector supports AC 100-240V.

Can you connect to a surround sound system?

Yes you can have Vankyo v620 connected to AV receiver to play movies/videos with digital sound.

What is the throw distance for 120 inch screen?

The screen size is 100" with 11.84ft projection distance and 150" screen size with 17.39ft distance.

Is it clear and convenient?

The projector features 1080P native resolution and comes with a portable carrying bag.

What's the difference in specs between this and the V600?

In the spec sheet only shows difference in screen size and a little of LUX. V600 has 300 inch limit and might show bigger screen up close than v620.

What is throw distance for 80" screen?

The ideal projection screen size is 85" with the throw distance of 9.84ft.

Can it be mounted to the ceiling?

Yes, this projector can be a ceiling or wall projector with 4 installation holes at the bottom of it.

Cinemango 100 Projector (White)

What kind of adaptor do we need to connect this to iPhone/iPad?

For iPhone/iPad, you just need a lightning cable to HDMI adaptor to connect the projector to your device. The projector does not contain these wires, so you need purchase separately.

Is it possible to have the sound go through a Bluetooth speaker instead of the projector?

This projector cannot connect your speakers via Bluetooth, but you can connect your speakers and projectors via a 3.5mm AUX cable. You will get unparalleled sound.

Does this device play atmosfx sd cards on the loop for projecting Halloween or Christmas decorations?

This projector supports playback of images and images using a TF or SD card. You can try to project Halloween and Christmas.

Does the projector have batteries?

The VANKYO Cinemango 100 projector does not have a built-in battery. You need to plug in the power supply, which is very convenient.

Is the screen size adjustable?

Yes you can move the projector to fit your screen.

Can I use this projector to watch movies downloaded from amazon prime to my iphone?

You can connect to your iPhone via lightning to HDMI cable. I've connected it to FireStick and it works great, except I can't hear it on major movies and Netflix movies. Everything else is fine.

Is this a great projector for movies and games?

Yes, Cinemango 100 is a good companion for movies and games and it works very smoothly.

What is the native resolution for this projector?

The native resolution of the Vankyo Cinemango 100 is 1280*720P. The effect is good to play games, it is awesome.

Can I play netflix, amazon prime video, and hulu normally?

If you attach a video source that can play all the content listed, you can play. It's just a projector and doesn't have any smart TV features. I installed the Firetv joystick to watch all of this and more.

Does it work with 110-240 volt?

Yes.

Can I play my Roku through this?

Yes.

What is the original resolution of this projector?

The native resolution of the Vankyo Cinemango 100 is 720P. It supports 1080P video resolution.

What connection is needed to hook to an android phone?

Either a Chromecast, or a USB mini or USB-C to HDMI or VGA.

How do I connect external speakers and does it support bluetooth?

It doesn't support Bluetooth. You will need to purchase a Bluetooth Transmitter to be output to Bluetooth speakers.

Troubleshooting for Projectors

- Display Available Without Audio

  • Projector is muted

  • Device (PC, TV, etc.) muted.

  • Dolby sound is not supported, exit to play again.

  • Profile audio format is not supported by projector. E.g. Projector supports 1080P and 1080I video won’t play audio.

  • VGA connection can only transmit analog signal of video not audio. External speaker is required when device is connected via VGA cable.

  • Encryption applied on the videos or media player which holds the video. Try more videos to define this possibility.

  • Exclude possibilities above, try another HDMI cable /external speaker, and a 2.0USB disk/ Micro SD card within 32G/USB hard disk within 1TB to play directly to see if both video audio available.

Still doesn't work? Maybe...

  • Profile audio format is not supported by projector. 

  • Encryption applied on the videos or media player which holds the video. 

  • If lamp is off with only audio playing, lamp is defective. Please contact seller for replacement. 

  • ※Try another HDMI cable if it’s connected through this channel.

- No Signal

  • Make sure all cables are plugged correctly and firmly.

  • Source input must comply with source output. e.g. if device is connected with projector from HDMI port with HDMI cable, HDMI input channel must be selected while projecting.

  • 2.0USB disk is supported on the projector. If a 3.0USB is connected, it will only show ‘No Device’.

- Blurry Images or Out of Shape

  • Adjust focus ring near lens on machine by moving it leftward/rightward till it shows the best images.

  • Adjust keystone on the back and kickstand on the bottom of machine to get the best images.

  • Place projector on flat surface horizontally or vertically. Inclination of any angle may result in blurry displays or uneven colors.

  • Darker environment suggested to achieve the best projecting performance.

  • Eligible distance of 1.2m-6m/4ft-20ft between projector and projecting screen/wall. The best distance is 2m/6.5ft with viewing size of 60-90inch.

  • Projecting wall or screen is blank clean of white color is needed.

- Up Side Down Images

  • Press ‘FLIP’ button on projector remote (based on certain model) or enter Menu-Picture to flip the projection image accordingly. Projector supports front installation front/back projection, lifting installation front/back projection.

- Projection screen is not square or allied horizontally

  • Make sure projector is placed on flat surface with projector light in the middle of screen.

  • Make sure the projector screen is placed horizontally.

- Color Distortion

  • Make sure video source has a fine resolution.

  • Adjust RGB by steps: menu-picture-color temperature, then select different modes and adjust value accordingly.

  • Reset projector to manufacturer setting by steps: menu-option-restore factory default.

- Unresponsive Remote

  • Make sure batteries are installed correctly and power is enough. 

  • Remote works with projector through IR. Some models have IR button installed on the back. Remote works only when IR is in direct reaction distance and will be unresponsive if IR button is blocked or covered.

- Small Dots on Display

  • Tap projector slightly to shake off the small spot which would be caused by dust in installation or shaking during shipment .

  • Clean lens with clean non-woven fabrics.

- Expanding Dark Spot/ Overheat/ Smoke

  • Check if fan noise increases or fan stops working. Unplug projector and contact seller in this situation.

  • Make sure outlet and projector power adapter are not wet or humid which will cause sparks when power on projector, or smoke on outlet.

- Doesn’t Power on/ Shut off During Playing

  • Confirm power plug is working and firmly fitted in outlet.

  • If the power indicator lights on but fan doesn't work, please contact seller for assistance.

  • Overheat on projector will activate built-in power-off protection panel. Restart machine when projector gets cooler.

  • Overload of power when USB disk of 1TB or above is connected without external power supply will cause shutting off. Insert the disk when projector is powered off or provide external power supply for disk would solve the issue.

- 3D Effect Unavailable

  • Projector supports 3D video source, and 3D viewing performance achievable with 3D glasses provided.

- Nothing Works in Main Screen especially with External Storage Connected

  • Correct channel must be selected when you use USB flash disk or memory card, otherwise, ‘No Device’ will be showed on up left corner of display.

  • In folders display, all videos or photos in your disk or memory card will take a place in every folder but they play only when format of exact file included is in accordance with name labeled of the folder. E.g. Open folder ‘Photo’, you will see photos, videos, music, but only photos can be opened. Open folder ‘Video’, only videos work and you cannot open photos even they are included.

- PowerPoint, Excel, Word Files don’t Work

  • Projector works as a monitor and project files above when it’s connected to a computer or laptop.

- Lamp doesn't Light Up

- How to Switch to DHMI Mode While Connecting to Laptop

  • For windows7/8/10 users, the letter P--as in "Projector." Specifically, pressing Windows-P invokes a new display-switch toolbar that makes it a snap to switch between various display modes. Combination keys might vary depending on different computer brands or models. - Size of Screws of Mount Projector

  • Mounting projector on ceiling requires compatible screws with nut in projector: Below are size info of screws for different models：

    Leisure3: M4 screw.

    Leisure410: British Standard Pipe Thread of 1/4 inch.

    Leisure510: M3 screws; Open the 4 foot-pad caps on the bottom of projector to find nuts.

- Cables to Connect TVBOX ,TV ，Firestick，DVD

  • HDMI for all devices mentioned above. For some TV without HDMI port, VGA cable will be working. Certain DVD models require AV cable connection.

- How to Display PowerPoint on Projector

  • To project from a PC or other devise with PC working system, projector works as a monitor and supports PowerPoint profile display. Due to higher requirement for brightness and clarity in professional use, we do not recommend using this projector for PowerPoint presentation.

  • To projector from USB disk, PowerPoint is not supported. However, we can save PowerPoint profile as PNG, or IPG or other image format which is supported by projector, then select photos we plan to do loop play. Default interval of each photo is 1 second and we can pause it by controlling through remote or button on projector.
